September Group Activity Submissions Part 1

by sherrysgotaplan - Bookmark
I made a bookmark using a brick red color as the base and a country blue matte. I used my Cricut machine to do the words "Who Loves You" in orange and to make the owl in a burnt orange color. I used brown as a background shadow for the owl and put a little green behind the eyes and yellow for the beak. I used a strip of brown for the branch in which the owl is perched and added some green leaves. I used a punch to make a small hole at the time and made a slip knot with some green gingham ribbon. I have worked night shift for the last nine-and-a-half years, and though I'm pretty tired of that shift, it has been "me" for almost ten years now. Even on my night off I still tend to be a "night owl". Autumn is probably my favorite season and I love all the colors of the season. Since everything is still green here I chose to make the leaves green for my first project.

by sherrysgotaplan - Birthday Card
I made this birthday card for a very dear friend who lives in England. His birthday is November 1st. We've never met in person. We met in a newsgroup back in 2000 and have been friends since. When I made the card my intent was to go in that room and pack up all my craft things because I'm moving on Saturday. But temptation got the best of me and I stopped in the middle of it all and made the card. I used a light tan card and a light olive green matte with an additional matte in brown. I took a strip of orange cardstock and glued to the bottom of the brown matte and then glued on a green ribbon. I made the phrase, "Birthday Boy" with my Cricut machine and glued that to the orange strip. I then made some pretty green corner designs and a heart for the middle with my Cricut.
